Cats, are so much more than just cute fluffy beings, and pest controllers. I see them as guardians, protectors, healers. Spiritual soulmates, therapists, mood boosters, emotional regulators, comedians, pure unconditional love dressed in fur, and with a cuteness, that is out of this world.
Dogs protect us physically, whereas cats do so, spiritually and emotionally.
They sit on us, on our chest, anywhere really or next to us, and purr away, with that motor like sound of safety, stability and love. They transmute negative and stagnant energies, any anger, hurt, depression, misalignments, our feline companions will work their magic and leave us feeling lighter, happier and at ease.
It is more than just an opinion, it is in fact scientifically proven that cats, regulate and stabilise our moods. They drastically reduce our stress levels, calm us and make us less grumpy…I couldn’t agree more.

Throughout the history of humanity, animals have been and still is a big part of our lives, not just as food, as companions, guardians, protectors, pest controllers, etc.
Their history is ancient. Cats and humans co-existing go way back, as far back as 10000 years ago, in the middle east in an area known as “The Fertile Crescent”. This we know from fossil records from human settlements from back then.

In Egypt 3600 years ago, they cats were worshipped as Gods. This species, the first officially known is “Felix Sylvestris Lybica”. They were often adorned with golden Jewellery, and when they died they were mummified. Their humans would shave their eyebrows off, as a sign of deep mourning, and would continue to mourn, until their eyebrows grew back.
In Egyptian mythology, Gods, and goddesses had the ability to transform, into various different animals. Only the deity Bastet, had the ability to transform into a cat. Bastet is the most well- known Cat Goddess, with the head of a cat and a female body, and stood for protection, health, dance, music and good health.

Loving, nurturing and caring, but also dangerous and deadly when needed. Just like most cats are…
Domestic cats, the ones that have moved in with us, are the “Felix Catus” species, and have almost identical DNA to their Egyptian/Middle eastern ancestors the “Felix Sylvestris Lybica”. Their species were evolved several thousand years later, and is the “domesticated cat” even though cats are never fully domesticated.
They are wild animals and apex predators, and as we all know, they do what they want, when they want it. Independent, untameable, wild, mysterious and fascinating.
Cats were loved and adored all over the world, not least for them being excellent pest controllers- eliminating mice and rats, thereby protecting the farmers’ crops and grains. They would also kill snakes, that had found their way into peoples’ homes, or baby cradles.
At some point, cats were transported on ships, by the trades people travelling far and wide, with herbs, species and textile. That is when the first migration of cats took place, from the middle east into Europe, and then later into Scandinavia.
There are accounts of cats, being the favourite pet of The Vikings too. They were accompanying the Vikings, on long seafaring expeditions, keeping mice and rats out of their corn, grains, and food in general. The Vikings were also farmers, so cats were also keeping their crops free of rodents.
In Nordic mythology we have the goddess Freya and her cats, that pull her chariot.
